Project Description

Client: NewCold Advanced Logistics
Location: Tacoma, Washington
Size: 310,000 sq. ft.

Owner: NewCold Advanced Logistics

Newcold Advanced Logistic’s first facility in the US is the cold storage of the future.

with automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) in a cold environment

Using state-of-the-art technology throughout the facility, the ASRS system will use robotic conveyors to store, move and retrieve products throughout in the low-oxygen high-bay warehouse. The robots and conveyor equipment will be directed by operators using Newcold’s advanced proprietary software system, keeping products in optimal conditions with the entire cold storage cooled to sub-zero temperatures.

Pleased and Proud:

This advanced cold chain solution ensures that processes are sustainable, traceable, fully integrated with the processes of NewCold’s customers. It offers a highly consistent level of logistic services. And above all, the Newcold facility is a more sustainable and food safe alternative to more conventional cold storage solutions.

Fisher built the Tacoma facility to serve multiple customers and to optimize Newcold’s customer’s ability to manage their product cold chain with maximum agility and responsiveness, better serving the needs of their customers, 24/7.

In addition to the ASRS system, the construction technique itself is leading-edge in that the structure is supported by the storage racks which hold the pallets of products. When the building is complete, the oxygen level will be reduced to, eliminating the need for fire suppression and allowing the 140’ product height. The building will operate on half the energy consumed by conventional cold storage.
