Delivering a Processing Plant Like No Other

The world’s appetite for the taste and convenience of frozen potato products continues to grow. As a result, Lamb Weston, a North American leader in frozen potato products has stepped up its game to meet the demand.

Fisher Construction Group designed and built Lamb Weston’s $200 million Line 5 Expansion in Richland, Washington. In short, Fisher delivered one of Lamb Weston’s most successful and efficient facility launches to date. By applying best practices developed through designing and building processing plants for Lamb in Louisiana, Oregon and Washington, Fisher’s AEC team delivered a processing plant like no other.

The project encompassed three projects in one. First, a new 250,454 sq. ft. processing facility. Then a 43,000 sq. ft. raw receiving building. Finally, a wastewater treatment plant expansion. Which serves the entire processing campus.

Fisher’s on-site MEP | Food Process Engineering team played an integral part of the success. The team developed piping and instrumentation drawings (P&ID) for the entire project to ensure a seamless process flow. The entire design | build team was managed by Fisher, including critical scheduling and equipment procurement, eliminating potential slowdowns caused by waiting for equipment and components.

To handle the expanded processing demands, Fisher upgraded the wastewater and electrical systems for the entire processing campus including the installation of anaerobic wastewater digester with the capacity to handle 3.4 million gallons per day.

Keeping the fast-track project on schedule and within budget, Fisher self-performed the site work as well as the concrete work─once again delivering maximum value and quality. The processing plant, raw receiving plant, and wastewater digester began processing eleven months after breaking ground. The project doubled the plant’s production capacity to 600 million pounds of frozen potato products per day.
