SUSTAINABILITY PHILOSOPHY PUT INTO ACTION
ConAgra Walks the Talk, Processing Waste Into Energy
Lamb Weston’s anaerobic digester is a cornerstone feature of ConAgra Foods’ commitment to delivering food to America’s plate in an environmentally sustainable way. The state-of-the-art bio-digester was built to process waste and generate energy for the company’s LEED® Platinum certified sweet potato processing plant in Delhi, Louisiana.
The fast track construction schedule left no room for delays of any type. Fisher worked closely with the Lamb Weston engineers to develop construction techniques which would allow for work to continue through months with 30”+ of rain.
Fisher Construction Group managed the construction of the entire project including site work, underground piping, lagoon construction, liner and cover installations, tank installation, all mechanical and electrical installation.
Working with Pharmer Engineering and The Stover Group, Fisher oversaw the bio-digester start-up–filling and heating the water, seeding and feeding the digesters, bringing them into full operation as sweet potatoes began to be processed at the plant next door.
Beyond construction knowledge, a project of this type requires the ability to coordinate between local jurisdictions and adapting to customer needs quickly while maintaining quality, schedule and budget. Fisher’s highly collaborative project process is a great fit for Lamb Weston and a project of this complexity.
