A Jewel for the Community
Performing Arts Center Fulfills a Long-Held Dream
At first, it started as a dream. However, the new Littlefield Celtic Center in Mount Vernon, Washington, became a reality through teamwork, creative thinking, and value engineering.
Equally important to the project, the performing arts hall was built to host a variety of cultural programs. Particularly musical performances, workshops, and lectures. The wood-framed building is tied to the Celtic Arts Foundation’s office. Featuring a performing space built to accommodate nearly 120 people. In addition, a commercial kitchen makes dinner events possible.
Fisher Construction Group worked closely with the non-profit Celtic Arts Foundation and their architect to fit their dream into a tight budget.
To diffuse and reflect sound in the 1,820 sf performance hall, the walls are fitted with snap-tex acoustical panels. Additionally, the ceiling uses slotted 9 wood acoustical planks. Significantly, employ fiberglass capsules backed with sound-absorbing fiberglass blankets to enhance sound quality.
Not to mention, the vaulted ceilings are supported by open glue-lam beams and finished with Carlisle’s structurally insulated panel (SIP) roof system. Unquestionably, a stronger, greener alternative to traditional stick frame construction. Lastly, the exposed concrete foundation and entry were stained and sand-blasted to contribute to the building’s overall aesthetic appeal.
As the general contractor, Fisher Construction Group managed the entire project. Furthermore, self-performed the concrete, foundation, framing along with the door and transom installation.
A valuable addition to the community, the Littlefield Celtic Center fulfills a long-held dream and will play a valuable role in preserving and expanding Celtic arts for the entire region.
