Competes Well in the Demanding Environment of Warehousing Logistics

United States Cold Storage has been keeping things cool since the late 1800’s. With 36 facilities in 12 states, their mission is to stay ahead of the market through innovation and smart thinking. Ongoing demand for more cold storage in North Central California fueled their commitment to building a new facility Sacramento.

After a rigorous interview process, US Cold chose Fisher Construction Group as the design | build contractor. Their new facility set to be 6.8 million-cubic-foot warehouse in Sacramento.

Industry-leading in every way, it is the first facility in the country built with the new Tyco Ultra K-34, Quell Fire Sprinkler System. Making it possible to store and protect product up to 45’, adding 9% more product.

FISHER’S TEAM BROKE GROUND ON THE PROJECT IN NOVEMBER. DESPITE TWO OF THE WETTEST WINTERS ON RECORD IN SACRAMENTO, THE COLD STORAGE WAS READY FOR PRODUCT THIRTEEN MONTHS LATER.

The facility operates with a highly-efficient, centralized CO2/NH3 cascade refrigeration system. With CO2 refrigerant temperature levels of -30°F and +20°F, used at air units throughout the building. In the meantime, waste heat is captured off the compressors. Its then circulated as underfloor heating to protect against heaving. Separate truck and rail docks are maintained at +45°F. Simultaneously the freezer can be cooled to -20°F. The two convertible rooms have a range of -20°F to +45°F. At full build-out, the system has a cooling capacity of roughly 1825 TR using only 8,800 pounds of ammonia.

A 25,073 SF office includes a USDA and FDA certified testing lab. Providing US Cold’s customer, Amy’s Kitchen, ample space for administrative support.

In conclusion, Fisher’s expert project management orchestrated the highly successful project. Working with US Cold’s engineering and logistics team to deliver innovation and smart solutions throughout the project.
